Blackmer TXD Pumps Meet The Challenges Of Transporting Ulsd

Grand Rapids, MI Blackmer, the global leader in positive displacement rotary vane technologies, announced today that its TXD Series sliding vane pumps have been designed to meet the challenges associated with the transport of ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD). The new 15-ppm on-road ULSD — the result of an Environmental Protection Agency mandate — has a lower lubricity due to its drastically reduced sulfur content, making its transport more problematic than that of the old 500-ppm low-sulfur diesel (LSD).

To handle this new fuel, TXD pumps, which have excellent self-priming and dry run capabilities, have been designed for clean, lubricating liquids for petroleum products like ULSD, fuel oil, kerosene, gasoline, avgas, jet fuel and light lube oils. Possible applications include fuel oil delivery trucks, fleet fueling, lube oil, aviation refuelers and the transport of petrochemicals, gasoline, biofuels and solvents.

Available in 1.5- 2-, 2.5-, 3- and 4-inch port sizes with flow rates from 10 to 500 U.S. gpm and pressures to 125 psi, TXD pumps offer fast, quiet, trouble-free operation. Adjustable relief valves protect the pump from excessive pressure. The optional air-operated relief valve offers easy hose and nozzle handling. T-type strainers are available to protect pumping systems from damage caused by welding slag and foreign matter in the piping and tanks.

Blackmer originated the first truck-mounted pump in 1915 and has continued to supply innovative pumping solutions ever since, giving its sliding vane technology a proven history. The sliding vane design compensates for normal wear in the pumping chamber, ensuring like-new performance throughout the life of the product, while the higher pumping capacities at lower speeds increase service life. The TXD pump can be easily serviced without having to remove it from the truck or piping.
